Companies that fit in with the concept of Green Park Aalsmeer include flower processing firms, specialist traders and innovative service providers. There is also scope for a business knowledge centre and tourist attractions.
Flower processing firms
Efficient transport is important to these businesses and this is guaranteed by the proximity of the auction, exporters and Schiphol. These are primarily producers who combine flowers, plants and related materials to make new products. There are also companies that make bouquets, as well as producers and traders of supplies for florists. They keep abreast of consumer trends. Finally there are packaging materials wholesalers.
Specialist traders
These are cash and carry outlets that sell directly to florists. They specialize in customized items in the market for gifts and special occasions and they require a very large selling area. A number of different cash and carries can operate jointly on the market, for example Cultra on the Aalsmeer Flower Auction site. The companies attract many visitors, and consequently there is a substantial need for parking.
Innovators
These firms provide innovative services to the flower and plant growing sector. These are designers, marketing experts, lifestyle and trend watchers, agents and dealmakers, legal advisors and financial services companies. Their space needs range from studios to offices with a businesslike appearance or a place in the trade centre. Many of these organizations will want to locate in the centre of the area. These needs can be met in part by multi-user office buildings and in part by a possible exhibition building, in view of the ambition to present new product-market combinations to the public.
Business knowledge centre
The business knowledge centre will occupy a key position in Bloomin’Holland. Here there is space for services (conference rooms and conference centre, business hotel, restaurants, bars & cafés) and knowledge development, for instance a knowledge centre, research institutes and education & training establishments. The shape that this will take ranges from one combined building to small office units, a hotel with business facilities and pavilion-style catering facilities.
Tourist attractions
There is great potential for tourists, particularly foreign tourists, in view of the interest in flowers and plants (Keukenhof, Floriade). The idea in Aalsmeer is not just to display the product, but the production process as well. For example, tourists can see how their bouquet is made. New products can also be tested. The facilities being considered include a reception pavilion with exhibition areas, design studios, souvenir shops, a trade fair centre, a hotel and a restaurant.
Layout of individual areas

This layout depicts a possible plan where companies can locate. There is space in each area for one to several types of company, depending on the companies’ needs in terms of position, access etc. The Master Plan has the following areas:
- Bloomin'Holland : the centre of Green Park Aalsmeer with a cluster of offices, innovative firms, a trade fair, training courses, conference and hotel facilities, and a flower and plant growing industry information centre.
- Wooded business area: a landscaped working area with very large plots and small offices.
- Green Park Centre, between Machineweg and the IGGV zone: intended for specialized trading and high added value business activities.
- Extension of the auction complex (FloraHolland – Aalsmeer East).
- A mixed trading site between Machineweg, Hornweg and Legmeerdijk.
- Space for more mixed local business activity between Oosteinderweg and Aalsmeerderweg and at the end of Middenweg and Noordvork around Aalsmeer.
